Christina Maranci is Mashtots Professor of Armenian Studies at Harvard University, a Harvard College Professor, Chair of the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, and holds a joint appointment in the History of Art and Architecture. She is also a Senior Fellow at Dumbarton Oaks. A world authority on Armenian art and culture and longtime advocate for Armenian cultural heritage, Maranci received in 2024 the Moses Khorenatsi Medal from the President of the Republic of Armenia for her service to the field. Consulted by media outlets including the New York Times, The Economist, and The Guardian, Maranci is author of several books and over a hundred articles on Armenian art. Her forthcoming book concerns the royal Bagratid foundations of Ani, c. 1000.
