The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations warmly invites you to attend an upcoming public lecture with Dr. Yaacob Dweck of Princeton University, entitled Rabbinic Reactionaries in the Sephardic Diaspora: Notes on a Social Type.

Yaacob Dweck is a professor of history and Judaic studies at Princeton University. His work explores reactionary movements and figures that redefined the intellectual framework of Judaism in early modern Europe. He is the author of The Scandal of Kabbalah: Leon Modena, Jewish Mysticism Early Modern Venice (Princeton, 2011) and Dissident Rabbi: The Life of Jacob Sasportas (Princeton, 2019).
