 Associate Professor of History and Jewish Studies, Rutgers University

 "The Deacon and the Jewess:
Conversion to Judaism in Medieval Spain and Beyond"

The author of Between Christian and Jew: Conversion and Inquisition in the Crown of Aragon, 1250-1391 (Penn Press, 2012), Paola Tartakoff will speak on her current book project, Conversion, Circumcision, and Ritual Murder in Medieval Europe. Professor Tartakoff is the recipient of fellowships from the NEH, the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies, and the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Columbia and an A.B. in History from Harvard.

 Professor Tartakoff is a candidate for the Jewish History and Culture position currently open in NELC.
