DESCRIPTION:<p align="center"><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>**NOTE NEW TIME - 4:30pm**</strong></span></p><p align="center"><strong>Paola Tartakoff</strong></p><p align="center"><strong> Associate Professor of History and Jewish Studies, Rutgers University</strong></p><p align="center"> "<strong>The Deacon and the Jewess:<br> Conversion to Judaism in Medieval Spain and Beyond"</strong></p><p align="center"> <strong>Monday, December 7, 4:30 p.m. ~~ 6 Divinity Avenue, room 201</strong></p><p><strong>The author of <em>Between Christian and Jew: Conversion and Inquisition in the Crown of Aragon, 1250-1391 </em>(Penn Press, 2012), Paola Tartakoff will speak on her current book project, <em>Conversion, Circumcision, and Ritual Murder in Medieval Europe. </em>Professor Tartakoff is the recipient of fellowships from the NEH, the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies, and the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Columbia and an A.B. in History from Harvard. </strong></p><p align="center"><strong> Professor Tartakoff is a candidate for the Jewish History and Culture position currently open in NELC.</strong></p><p align="center"><strong>We hope to see you there!</strong></p>
