Moshe Halbertal
Gerard Weinstock Visiting Professor in Jewish Studies (Spring 2026)
Moshe Halbertal is the Gruss Professor at NYU Law School, and a professor of Philosophy at the Hebrew University. Among his books are Idolatry (co-authored with Avishai Margalit), People of the Book: Canon, Meaning and Authority, published by Harvard University Press, and On Sacrifice, and Maimonides: Life and Thought, published by Princeton University. His latest book, Nahmanides: Law and Mysticism, was published by Yale University Press in 2020. In 2010, he was named a member of Israel’s National Academy for Sciences and the Humanities, and in 2021, he was elected as a member of American Philosophical Society.
