Diego Benning Wang is a historian of Eurasia and Eastern Europe, specializing in the modern history of the Caucasus, Armenia, and Central Asia. He has received a PhD in history from Princeton University, an MA in Russian studies from Columbia University, and a BA in Russian studies from New York University. He was a visiting scholar at the Harriman Institute at Columbia University in 2024-2025 and a visiting scholar at the Davis Center at Harvard University in 2025-2026. In June 2026, he co-founded the Association for the Advancement of North Caucasus Studies, where he current serves as the Vice President. He has also taught at Princeton University, Kean University, Union County College, and Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology. His research interests include cultural history, nationalism, national identity, totalitarianism, geopolitics, mass atrocities, inter-ethnic conflict, and transimperial history.
