I am a current PhD student in the NELC department of Harvard, where I study Medieval Arabic Philosophy under the supervision of Dr. Khaled el-Rouayheb. In particular, I am working to trace the development of Avicennian metaphysics and logic in the philosophical currents developing throughout late 15th to early 16th century Shiraz - in with two thinkers specifically:Jalāl al-Dīn al-Dawānī (d. 908/1502) and Ṣadr al- Dīn al-Dashtakī (d. 903/149 - and explore how their writings on these topics relate to contemporary analytic understandings of essence, existence and their varying modalities.
