Anahit Khosroeva

Visiting Scholar in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations
Appointment Dates: September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2026

Anahit Khosroeva is a genocide scholar born in Armenia. Her research interests include comparative genocide studies, human rights, and international law.

Dr. Khosroeva is the author of more than a dozen research books and monographs, as well as numerous scholarly articles on the history of the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek genocides during the Ottoman period (1894–1923). Her papers have been published in several languages, including Armenian, Assyrian, English, Russian, Farsi, Arabic, and Spanish.

At the invitation of Harvard University, Dr. Khosroeva will spend two academic years (2024–2026) as a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. During this time, her primary goal is to translate and publish her Ph.D. dissertation in English - the only comprehensive scholarly study of the Assyrian experience during the World War I Ottoman genocide.

She will also collaborate with local colleagues on the English translation of a major Russian-language biographical dictionary documenting prominent Assyrians in Russia from the 19th through the mid-20th century. In addition, Dr. Khosroeva will conduct research in the Widener Library, identifying and analyzing archival sources related to the modern history of Assyrians, with a particular focus on communities in the former Soviet Union.
