Malika Zeghal Publishes a New Book on Islam and Government

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Professor in Contemporary Islamic Thought and LIfe and Director of Graduate Studies, Malika Zeghal, has published a new book entitled, The Making of the Modern Muslim State: Islam and Governance in the Middle East and North Africa. Drawing on intellectual, political, and economic history, the book traces this custodianship from early forms of constitutional governance in the nineteenth century through post–Arab Spring experiments in democracy. It is published by Princeton University Press (March 2024).
