Date and Time
April 8, 2019
04:00PM - 05:00PM EDT
Location
Room 201, Semitic Museum, 6 Divinity Ave, Cambridge, MA 02138
Event description:
The Fatimids, a major empire that ruled over much of Mediterranean North Africa from 909-1171, were brought to power on the heels of an apocalyptic revolution. This talk examines the evolving nature of the Fatimids' apocalyptic symbolism, focusing specifically on how they simultaneously harnessed apocalyptic authority while postponing the immediacy of the end of the world.
