#  NELC Workshop: Songs of Longing//Pleasant Entertainment: A workshop for translating Late Egyptian hieratic &amp; ancient Egyptian love 

 



 Academic Year 2019-2020

 This workshop provides an informal setting for the study of Late Egyptian hieratic and the representation of love in ancient Egyptian literature. Students will translate songs of love and longing and practice Late Egyptian from facsimiles of papyri and ostraca. Attendees who would like to discuss love poetry in ancient Egypt are welcome during the second hour. For translating Late Egyptian a minimum of one year in Middle Egyptian is encouraged.

 Dates and location: **Spring 2020 - Wednesdays** in the Semitic Museum, Room 304, 6 Divinity Ave., unless otherwise specified (please see below).

 4:30 - 5:30 - Hieratic translation &amp; Late Egyptian grammar  
5:30 - 6:30 - Discussion of primary texts &amp; secondary literature
