Nevenka Korica-Sullivan has been teaching Arabic at Harvard since 2010. She received her M.A. in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language from American University in Cairo (AUC). She taught at the Arabic Language Institute at AUC for fifteen years. She served as executive director of Center for Arabic Studies Abroad from 2006-2010 and as stateside director from 2014 to 2019. A native of Belgrade, Serbia, she earned her B.A. in Arabic and Turkish languages from the Department of Oriental Philology, University of Belgrade. Ms. Sullivan worked as a translator and news announcer in the Arabic service at Radio Yugoslavia. She is the co-author of Media Arabic: A Coursebook for Reading Arabic News (AUC Press, 2007; 2nd edition 2014) and Umm Dunya: Advanced Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (AUC Press 2012). Her professional interests include second language acquisition, language pedagogy and developing programs and creative materials for teaching and learning Arabic.
