 **Associate Professor of History and Jewish Studies, Rutgers University**

 "**The Deacon and the Jewess:  
 Conversion to Judaism in Medieval Spain and Beyond"**

 **Monday, December 7, 4:30 p.m. ~~ 6 Divinity Avenue, room 201**

**The author of *Between Christian and Jew: Conversion and Inquisition in the Crown of Aragon, 1250-1391* (Penn Press, 2012), Paola Tartakoff will speak on her current book project, *Conversion, Circumcision, and Ritual Murder in Medieval Europe.* Professor Tartakoff is the recipient of fellowships from the NEH, the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies, and the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Columbia and an A.B. in History from Harvard.**

 **Professor Tartakoff is a candidate for the Jewish History and Culture position currently open in NELC.**
