Open search: Preceptor in Yiddish

 

The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations seeks applications for a Preceptor in Yiddish beginning July 2017. The position is for one year, renewable on a yearly basis for up to eight years (as applicable under Faculty of Arts and Sciences policies) pending enrollments and performance. Teaching duties include a minimum of five courses per year of instruction in Yiddish language from the introductory to the advanced levels.

The successful candidate will have a near-native command of Yiddish language; a BA or equivalent.

The successful applicant should be well versed on the issues of teaching Yiddish as a foreign language, and have experience in teaching all levels of Yiddish language. Specialization in Yiddish literature, linguistics and culture, or intellectual history is highly desirable. A strong doctoral record is preferred.
