William Granara recently completed a week-long visit to Amman Jordan, where he was invited by the Qasid Institute for the Teaching of Classical and Modern Arabic to review its programs, conduct teaching workshops, and deliver a lecture.  Prof. Granara held three workshops on:  “Teaching Language and Culture from the Elementary to the Advanced Levels,” “Curriculum Development for Classical Arabic,” and “Assessing Proficiency and Achievement for non-native Speakers of Arabic. In addition, he delivered a lecture in Arabic entitled:  Recent Trends in the Arabic Novel from Morocco to the Arabian Gulf. Qasid has been a favorite site for intensive summer study for Harvard’s Arabic language students for the past ten years.
